[한글 스크립트] 살과 피, 전부 생명에 관한 것

고난 주간 다섯째 날 목요일이에요. 마가의 다락방에서 성만찬이 행해졌는데, 이것은 예수 그리스도의 살과 피를 기념하라는 것입니다. 살과 피를 기념한다는 것은 예수님의 그 희생에 동참하라는 의미입니다. 예수님은 때에 맞게 우리를 위해 죽어주셨고, 마지막에 성만찬을 통해 이를 기념하라고 하셨습니다. 처음에는 이것이 잘 이해가 되지 않을 수 있지만, 내가 힘들어질 때 예수 그리스도의 살과 피를 기념하라는 말씀이 실제적으로 다가옵니다. 우리가 죽어지고 썩어지는 밀알이 되는 것을 의식으로 기념하는 것입니다.

예수님은 제자들과 유월절 먹기를 간절히 원하셨습니다. 성만찬 때 먹는 무교병은 맛이 없지만, 원어로는 '아르토스(Artos)', 즉 '생명의 떡'이라고 합니다. 요한복음에서 말씀하시듯 주님은 그냥 물이 아닌 생수이며, 그냥 빛이 아닌 생명의 빛이십니다. 이 살과 피를 기념하라는 것은 다른 사람들에게 생명을 주는 일입니다. 내가 오늘 죽어지고 썩어지는 밀알이 되면 다른 사람들에게 생명의 떡을 나눠줄 수 있습니다. 형식적인 의식이 아니라, 나도 십자가 지고 죽어짐으로써 타인에게 생명의 빛을 전하는 성만찬이 되어야 합니다.

이후 겟세마네 동산으로 가셨습니다. 이곳은 예수님이 제자들과 양육을 위해 자주 모이시며 추억을 쌓던 공간이었습니다. 그런데 그곳을 유다도 알고 있었습니다. 주님은 유다가 자신을 팔 것을 아셨음에도 피하지 않고 그와 끝까지 함께 가셨습니다.

겟세마네 교회에서 주님의 기도를 생각합니다. 주님은 "할 수만 있으면 이 잔을 내게서 거두어 주시옵소서"라고 기도하셨습니다. 제자들은 돌 던질 만큼 가까운 거리에서 졸며 기도하지 못했지만, 주님은 땀방울이 핏방울이 되도록 기도하셨습니다. 그리고 이제는 "자고 쉬라" 하시며 십자가를 질 준비를 마치셨습니다. 우리 역시 되었다 함이 없지만, 주님의 눈물과 그 처절한 기도를 생각하며 우리에게 주어진 길을 걸어가야 합니다.

결국 유다는 예수님을 팔았고 모든 제자들은 떠나갔습니다. 십자가는 혼자 지는 것입니다. 제자들은 지금은 따라오지 못하지만, 주님은 후에 그들이 따라올 것을 소망하며 기대를 품고 그들을 보내셨습니다. 적대감이 팽배한 상황에서도 제자들이 다치지 않은 것은 "그들을 보호하여 주소서"라는 주님의 기도가 응답되었기 때문입니다.

예수님이 걸어가신 그 인생의 길을 우리라고 안 걸어가겠습니까? 사명이 있기에 뒤를 쳐다보지는 않지만, 하루하루 갈 때 눈물 없이 걸어올 수 있는 길이 아니었습니다. 여러분도 마찬가지일 것입니다. 이것이 바로 제자가 가는 길입니다.

[English Script] Flesh and Blood: All About Life

Today is Thursday, the fifth day of Passion Week. The Last Supper took place in Mark’s upper room, where Jesus commanded us to remember His flesh and blood. To remember His flesh and blood means to participate in His sacrifice. Jesus died for us at the perfect timing, and when all else failed, He established the Holy Supper as a memorial. While this might be hard to understand at first, when we face our own hardships, the command to remember His flesh and blood becomes deeply personal. It is a ritual to remember our calling to die, rot, and become a grain of wheat.

Jesus earnestly desired to eat the Passover with His disciples. The unleavened bread eaten during the Last Supper is tasteless, but in Greek, it is 'Artos,' meaning the 'Bread of Life.' As the Gospel of John repeatedly mentions, He is not just water but Living Water; He is not just light but the Light of Life. Remembering His flesh and blood is about giving life to others. When I die and rot like a grain of wheat today, I can share the Bread of Life with others. We should not perform the Holy Supper formally, but with a heart that is willing to carry the Cross and die to give life to others.

The Garden of Gethsemane was a place where Jesus often gathered with His disciples for training and fellowship. Judas also knew this place. Even though Jesus knew Judas would betray Him, He did not avoid him but went with him until the very end.

In the Church of Gethsemane, we reflect on the Lord’s prayer. He prayed, "If it is possible, let this cup pass from me." While the disciples slept just a stone's throw away, unable to keep watch, the Lord prayed until His sweat became like drops of blood. Finally, He said, "Sleep and take your rest," signaling He was ready to face the Cross. Though we are far from perfect, we must walk our assigned path while remembering the Lord’s tears and His desperate prayer.

In the end, Judas betrayed Him and all the disciples fled. The Cross is carried alone. Although the disciples could not follow Him then, Jesus looked forward with hope, believing they would follow later. The reason the disciples remained unharmed in such a hostile environment was that the Lord's prayer—"Protect them"—was answered.

Should we not also walk the path of life that Jesus walked? Because of our mission, we do not look back, but the daily journey is not one that can be walked without tears. I believe it is the same for all of you. This is the path of a disciple.
